he lost his arm in a saw mill accident. Their children were; Arthur C. ,
Walter, Mazie, Mattie Webster. Arthur was b. 24 Aug 1895 d. 23 April 1982.

- CATHCART, WEBSTER
posted by Kathleen Anthony on Thursday,

- I have on my files one family of Websters:
W. Perry Webster, born around 1820, married Margaret Cathcart, born around
1824. I do not know who W. Perry's parents were, but Margaret's parents
were Robert and Jane Thom Cathcart. They lived near New Bethlehem - during
that time it was called Red Bank Township, Armstrong County. This area
later split along the Redbank Creek, one section staying in Armstrong
County (Mahoning and Redbank Township) the other part going to Clarion
County (Perry Township and New Bethlehem).
W. Perry and Margaret Cathcart Webster had two children that I know of:
Sehdon M. Webster and Minor N. Webster. I do not have anything more. If
this is a match - great! If not, maybe check Clarion area, I am not
familiar with the town you mentioned. I did a quick look at a copy of an
old map of Armstrong County dated 1861 and could not find that town - but
town names change.

- CAMPBELL, JOHNSTON,
ROBINSON posted by Steve
Johnston on Monday, February 12, 2001
- I am looking for information on my ggg-grandfather John Johnston who is
found in the 1800 census in then Buffulo twp. (now the SE corner of Sugar
Creek twp. just north of Cowensville) living next to Alexander Campbell,
Samuel Robinson, and John Cowen (founder of Cowensville). In 1810
Alexander Campbell moves to Trumbull Co. OH and over-winters in a small
cabin. John Johnston follows with his family in 1811 w. his wife Margaret
(Robinson) Johnston, believed to be a sister of Samuel Robinson. The John
Johnston family says in the same cabin during the winter of 1811 in
Trumbull Co. OH. Although John is said to have been born in PA in 1773,
his older brother Thomas was born in Ireland. An apparent younger brother,
David Johnston Esq., goes on to be a relatively well-known minister in
Kittanning, Armstrong Co.
The Scots-Irish father of John, Thomas, and David is unknown. Does anyone
have information on this family?
I also wonder if Alexander Campbell was a brother-in-law (i.e. married a
Johnston sister).

- HERN, SNYDER,
ZERN posted by Sofie
on Tuesday, February 13, 2001
- I am looking for info {parents/siblings/correct birth dates &
places/ethnicity} on my 5th great grandmother, Mary Catherine ZERN. I was
told by some family that her name may have been HERN. Here is the info I
have:
Mary Catherine ZERN
b between 1783-1784 in PA
m John Peter SNYDER, Sr between 1800-1802 in PA
d 8-10-1849 in western PA- probably Clarion or Armstrong Cos, PA. She is
buried in the SNYDER family cemetary in Perry Township, Armstrong Co, PA.
Her children w/ John Peter SNYDER, Sr were:
Ann Elizabeth {my ancestor} b 1803 in PA, d 1856 in PA
George b 1805 in PA, d 1825 in PA
Catharine b 1809 in PA, d 1874 in PA
Margarete b 1811 in PA, d 1896 in PA
John Peter, Jr b 1817 in PA, d 1870 in PA
Mary M. b 1821 in PA, d 1846 in PA
In the SNYDER family history info I have, it states that the ZERN surname
is not common in local records & the only clue available is an entry
in the 1840 census for Perry Township in Armstrong Co, PA. There is a John
HERN listed, age 70-80, w/ a wife age 50-60 in Perry Township. The census
places them living near to John Peter SNYDER, Jr, in whose home his then
elderly parents {John Peter SNYDER, Sr & Mary Catherine ZERN SNYDER}
resided.
This John HERN could be her father, but I have been unsuccessful in
finding that out. I DO hope someone can help!!

- I am researching the Family of Joseph Arbuckle b. about 1750 and his
wife Sarah(maiden name unknown) b. about 1765 in MD d.1834 Jackson or
Cambridge,Guernsey Co.,OH. It looks as if they had all their children in
PA. At the time of his death in 1808 Mifflin,Allegheny Co.,PA, he had
property in BeaverTown which was sold post mortem by Samuel Arbuckle to
Joseph French and on waters of Slippery Rock Creek. This was in his will.
JAMES FLETCHER, DAVID DAVIS and RICHARD DAVIS witnessed this will. His
executors were JAMES KIDOO and WILLIAM WILSON. Also in his will was that
his 2 youngest children Leahand James were to be bound out. This was
carried out through the Orphan's Court in 1810. Joseph and Sarah had the
following children:
Rebecca (m.MajorJohn McMillin)
Alexander (m.Matilda Sigman/Sickman)
Isaac (m.Jane Reed)
Margaret (m. LukeSigman)
James W.(m1. Isabelle Henry m2.Jane Henry)He has been seen in Coshocton
Co.,OH and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetary,Guernsey Co., OH
Leah (m. Isaac Booth) lived in Coshocton Co.,OH, Carroll Co.,OH and buried
in Tuscawaras Co.,OH,
John (m.Mary Arthur) died Jefferson Twp.? 1805 she remarried to William
McCalmment,
William,
Robert,
Samuel,
Esebella/Isabella (m. ?Moor/Moore)
and Mary (m. ? Williams).
Also possibly had 2 other daughters and 2 other sons, names unknown.
Son Alexander had children in PA,went to Guernsey Co.,OH and went on to
Parkersburg, Wood Co.,VA buried there with wife Matilda. His son Harvey
went there ahead of them. His daughter Matilda Arbuckle and George Locker
were married in Washington Co.,OH and lived in Parkersburg WV area. It is
believed that she had 2 daughters.
Alexander's daughter Mary m. to a Mr. Moore. She may also be known as
"Polly".
Joseph's wife Sarah d.1834 went to Guernsey Co.,OH around 1810 along with
some of their children, others remained in PA or went west. Rebecca d.1852
and Lt. John McMillin d. 1857 both buried in New Salem Cemetary, Beaver
Co.,PA.
I believe this Joseph to be part of the family from Accomack, possibly one
of the eldest sons who went to PA. or perhaps born in NH
I would love and welcome any and all info regarding any of these family
members, and especially parents and sibs of Joseph, or maiden name of
Sarah.
Arbuckle Trivia:
A Joseph was under name Arbunkle under Maryland Muster Rolls in Rev War
and in Accomack, VA. Affiliation in Accomack was Episcopalian, mine was
Presbyterian and had 13 children, can definitely supply names of 12.
Lawyer on his will was Samuel Arbuckle, William Wilson was executor. Wife
listed as Sarah (no maiden name found).
My Joseph Arbuckle had property 1 lott in Beavertown which was sold post
mortem by Samuel Arbuckle to Joseph French, and 1/2 lott on waters of
Slippery Rock Creek. I am from son Alexander. Allied names included in
list above A John Findley Esq. (2 youngest children Leah and James
boundout to him per Orphans Court).
Son John m.to Mary Arthur d. 1805 had land in Nottingham Twp. on Peters
Creek. David Hamilton of the Whiskey Insurrection Black Betty incident was
witness to his will.
Nathaniel Johnston b.about 1820 m.Sarah Arbuckle b.about 1817-18 in Ohio?
in 1844 all their children b. PA
I am not sure of JOSEPH'S date of birth, as a JOSEPH ARBUCKLE was listed
in will of ANDREW ARBUCKLE of Boston whose witnesses were JOHN and THOMAS
CUNNINGHAM, and others mentioned were JOSEPH MCCLANNAN, a sister MCCLANNAN
and JON MCCLANNAN and Mr. JOSEPH HOLTS (deacon of the First Church of
York).
I also have SAMUEL ARBUCKLE (not sure if same one)and his wife NANCY BERRY
buried in Hamilton Co., OH alongside a great many HARPER'S, ROSS' and
Irwins. I have a list of most of the Ross' and some of the HARPER'S. I
also am interested in information of JOHN ARBUCKLE m. to REBECCA ROSS.
I am primarily interested in finding out JOSEPH'S wife SARAH'S maiden
name, and names of his parents and siblings, and info re their children
and ancestors as to connect with their descendants.
