Litzinger Robert Lt. Colonel During the 1863 Confederate invasion of the north, Gov. Curtin of PA asked for Emergency Militia Troops to be raised. This Battalion was formed partly from students of the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania, which later became Penn State University.
