STUDENT COUNCIL
Officers
Earl Horne............................................. President
Harvey Armish...................................... Vice President
Bernice Blum ........................................Secretary
James Bush.......................................... Treasurer
The Student council, which was organized in 1930 is the student body
government of our school. Undeer the supervision of the principal, Mr.
McPhatter, the council meets semi-monthly. The purpose of the council is to
correlate school activities and afford students an opportunity to help
direct affairs of the school.
Membership consists of two representatives from all organized student
groups. At present this makes an average membership of fourteen. At the
beginning of each new semester the council is re-organized and new
representatives are elected. The president is elected by the vote of the
student body and, like other officers of the organization, is elected for
one school year. A school treasurer is elected from the council to manage
all school finance.
An organization is never complete without those all-important groups,
committees. One committee, acting as secret agents, mingles with the
students, finds their likes and dislikes, and reports to the council. It is
the duty of the Citizenship Committee to promote orderly conduct. a news
committee writes school news for weekly publication. Special committees are
appointed as deemed necessary.
During the history of the council several major projects have been
undertaken and successfully carried out. Plays have been presented and a
stereopticon has been bought for the school. Pamphlets describing the duties
of the council and the obligations of the students are distributed yearly to
the student body.
The following is a list of the presidents since the Student Council was
organized:
Yolanda Harsanyi..................1930-31
James Harsanyi .....................1931-32
Sarah McCafferty................... 1932-33
Blanche Newlin...................... 1933-34
Earl Horne................................ 1934-35
