AUG. 2, 1849

Bucks County Alms House – We learn that out of 160 inmates in this institution, there were, up to the 30th of July, ninety-eight deaths from cholera.  All this mortality has occurred during he past nine days, and on Saturday last the deaths numbered twenty-one.

Married on the 19th of July, by the Rev. Mr. Buchs, Mr. Jonas Gangewer, of Allentown, to Miss Susanna Gangewer, of South Whitehall.
Married by the Rev. Mr. Hess, Mr. Jacob Frank, to Miss Lydia Bacher, both of Philadelphia.
Married by the same, Mr. James Nightlinger, to Miss Abigail Fritzinger, both of Allentown.
Married on the 17th of July, by the same, Mr. Samuel W. Weber, to Miss Julia Landes, both of Saucon.
Married on Sunday last, by the Rev. Mr. Dubs, Mr. Franklin Balliet, of Allentown, to Miss Polly Schaud, of South Whitehall
Married on Tuesday last, by the Rev. Mr. Dubs, Mr. Henry J. Smith, to Miss Amanda, daughter of Mr. Charles Kramer, both of this borough.

Died at the residence of his son-in-law, Dr. Ancona, in Reading, Mr. Silas Knapp, of the city of New York, aged upwards of 70 years.
Died on the 10th of July, near Princeton, Illinois, of cholera, Mr. Daniel Vanatta, formerly of Easton.
Died on the 12th of May, at St. Louis, Missouri, of cholera, Daniel Colver, formerly of Hanover township, Lehigh county, aged 36 years.
