The May and Craig families will hold a reunion on the farm of John H. May, near Acme, seven miles east of Mount Pleasant on the Somerset pike, Sunday, August 21. All relatives and friends of the Mays and Craigs are invited to attend. Free coffee will be furnished on the grounds. There will be good speaking and music.
The May family is one of the pioneers west of the Allegheny mountains, tracing back to John May in 1787. Mr. May was reared in Bedford county, coming to Somerset where he raised a family of five children. Later Mr. May came to what is known as Mays stand at the forks of the Somerset and Clay pikes, afterward purchasing the Underwood property where he opened up a hotel and took care of the stage coaches and wagon trains up until the time of this death. After that the property changed hands and now is known as the Wade Hoke property, where the Acme post office is now located.
If any of the H___s, Lints, Browns, Bittners and H___s have any record of these families it is hoped that they present them at this reunion. Frank B. Craig of Tarr is president and Otto Craig of Akron, Ohio, secretary of the organization.
