Stoystown Methodist Episcopal church was organized some years prior to 1843; the exact date cannot be learned; as the early records have been lost.

The pastor in charge when the first church edifice was dedicated (1843) was Rev. Jamison. The present church was built in 1874, at a cost of forty-five hundred dollars. The membership of the church is twenty-six; sabbath school, forty.
