CORRECTION. – In our notice of the death of Mr. Knapp, last week there were some errors. He was born in 1827, consequently was but 32 years old. We learn by letter from Col. Emery, of this village, father-in-law of Mr. Knapp, that Mrs. Knapp is lying very ill, though not without hope of recovery. One of their children, a little boy, is dangerously ill, and the physician has little expectation of his recovery. The family has the sympathy of this community in this severe affliction.
ALLEGED MURDER. – Friday morning Michael King and wife, of Union township, were consigned to the jail in this village, on a charge of willful murder of an adopted child.
We give such facts as we can gather: On the 10th, Mr. and Mrs. King took the body of the child, a boy of eleven, to Troy for interment. Certain circumstances aroused suspicions of foul play, and the body was exhumed. On examination it was found to be barbarously mutilated, several ribs being broken, the breast bone crushed and the thighs burned to a crisp. The body was otherwise brutally mutilated. King and his wife were arrested on Wednesday, and after an examination before a justice were committed to answer to a charge of willful murder at the May Oyer and Terminer of this county. The victim was a son of Mr. Tierney of Troy.
A CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS. -Last was an unlucky week in and around Wellsboro.
On Monday, 10th, Mrs. William English, of Delmar, was flung from a wagon and fatally injured. The horses had been halted for some purpose, and starting suddenly she was pitched out of the wagon backwards, sustaining such an injury of the spine as resulted in paralysis.
On Tuesday, 11th, a little child of Mrs. Delos Miller, of Delmar, was fatally scalded. The mother had set a pail of hot water on the floor, and leaving it a moment the little one toddled up to it, sat down in the water, and remained until rescued by its mother. The child lived but twelve hours, dying Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday, 12th, a little son of Sheriff Potter fell from his pony and broke both bones of his left arm. The Sheriff is so well accustomed to accidents by this time that this will not be novel, though rather unpleasant.

HADLEY. – In Litchfield, Hillsdale Co., Mich., April 21 of consumption, Marcia Hadley.
FIELD, –In West Liberty, April 19, after an illness of four days, Sarah V., wife of P.B. Field, aged forty-seven years 2 months and 8 days.

LEVEGOOD, –In Liberty, April 5, after a lingering illness, George Levegood in the 67th year of his age.

and was ready to save.
BOOM, –In Chatham, April 16, of heart disease, Sylvester Boo, aged 44.
The deceased was a native of Chatham, spent his life in that township, respected and honored; and died in full hope and expectation that to die was gain. He went to sleep in full usual health, reflecting on the goodness of his Savior and awoke in heaven to enjoy the beatitude of His companionship forever.
