SOMERSET, AUG. 1–The descendants of Yost Miller, a Revolutionary soldier, will hold their second annual reunion in Somerset on August 12th. This year\’s reunion will be attended by many more of the kin than the one last year, owing to the additional historical facts discovered since that time and the pleasant congenial mingling of a year ago.
President William Henry Mlller, of Stoyestown, and Secretary John Stufft Miller of Somerset, have left nothing undone to make it a successful meeting. The fact that the time and place of the birth of Yost Miller and Jeremiah Miller have been ascertained, and that Col. Jack Miller was their uncle will be most interesting to the descendants.
The officers are now about ready to write the family history of Yost Miller and his descendants, starting back in Germany. The military record of the Miller family has probably not been surpassed by any other family in this section of the country and the stories told of Col. Jack Miller of Colonial days would in itself make an interesting volume.
There are fully one thousand of the kin now living In Somerset county, and they are largely made up of the Millers living in Somerset borough, and in the townships of Somerset, Lincoln, Jenner and Quemahoning; the Mostollors, Lohrs and Lamberts in Quemahoning, Shade and Stonycreek townships. The Ogline and Berkey lines are scattered through Somerset and Cambria counties.
The Lenhart line was not located at last year\’s reunion, but Secretary John S. Miller located n branch of it at Coshocton, 0. At other points in Ohio, one branch of the Peter Miller family live. There are very few of the Dibert and Hoover lines living. Their homes are in Pittsburg and Ligonier.
