St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Salisbury, Pennsylvania, was probably organized about 1809. There are no records earlier than 1849. At that date Rev. Samuel B. Lawson was pastor; Joseph Diveley and Peter Welfley, elders; Caspar Lochel and George Lowry, deacons. Members were:

The cornerstone of the first church was laid in 1809. The congregation now has eighty- three members and the sabbath school one hundred scholars.
