The Pottsville Standard says: On Monday morning Jacob Wesser, who lives near Rattlesnake Pond, went to a neighbor named William Yarns, to collect some money that was due him, and coupled his demand with the threat that if he did not pay he would not live longer. Yarns told him he had not the money and could not pay him. Wesser then undertook to make good his words and struck Yarns a fearful blow on the head with a gun which he had brought with him, and finding that he did not accomplish the end desired, deliberately leveled the gun at Yarns and fired. As he shot, Yarns dodged and the charge took effect in his wife’s breast, who stood directly back of him. A warrant was issued by Justice Locklin for the arrest of Wesser.

Two families, named Stuck and Dietrich, residing at Centerville, Forest county, have been on bad terms for a number of years. The male members on both sides met in the village on the 14th inst., and fought a pitched battle. One of the Stucks was stabbed and severely wounded in the back, one of the Deitrichs was shot through the wrisst and through the ear, and another was struck on the head with a heavy weight, from the effects of which he will probably die. The same families had a simular fight nine years ago in which the females took part.
