Robert D. Boyer
March 28, 1939 - June 29, 2006
From the Jeffersonian Democrat, June 29, 2006:Robert D. (Bob) Boyer, 67, died Friday, June 23, 2006 while he was a patient at the Tunnel Rehabilitative and Adaptive Care Facility, San Francisco, CA.
Born March 28, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of William Darr Boyer and Effie M. Shirey Boyer Shaffer.
Mr. Boyer graduated from Brookville Area High School in 1957, Thiel College, Greenville, in 1961; and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia in 1967.
In recent years, he worked as a security guard in San Francisco. He enjoyed hiking, flower identification and photography. He also volunteered at the San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum.
Surviving are two sisters, Janet Boyer Himes Cave of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and Mrs. Ted (Nancy Boyer) Fox of Knoxdale. Also surviving are two nieces and two nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, James N. Shaffer, and his half-brother, James N. Shaffer, Jr.
Mr. Boyer donated his body to the University of California Hospital for research.
