September 25, 1939 - May 11, 2005

E. Dennison (Denny) Snyder died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at the Brookville Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Denny was 65 years of age. He was born in Brookville on September 25, 1939, the son of Eli Nathan and Helen Miller Snyder. Denny was a 1957 graduate of Brookville High School. He was also a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, attended University of Iowa, and earned Masters Degrees from University of Pittsburgh and Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Denny was employed as a County Planning Director in Jefferson and Clarion Counties, PA, and briefly in Dade County, FL. He served as a substitute teacher in Jefferson County, PA, and before retiring, worked as a teacher and technology specialist in the Wellsboro Area School District in Wellsboro, PA, and Chester County School District in Exton, PA.

Denny was a lifetime member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, winning countless championships and serving as a Master and International Referee. He was an avid hunter, breeder and trainer of springer spaniels, and enjoyed traveling and studying historical events, particularly the Civil War.

Denny is survived by a son, Michael Snyder, of Barboursville, WV, daughters Julie Snyder of Troy, OH, and Mrs. Mark (Rebecca) Swartz of Brookville, PA, two grandchildren, and his former wife, Linda Buzard Goldsmith of Arvada, CO. He is also survived by his brother, James Snyder, of Brookville, PA, and one nephew. His parents preceded him in death.

Per Denny's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Instead, the family gathered privately on May 14, 2005, for a commemoration of his life. In July, at a date to be announced, the family also intends to hold a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Denny's life, accomplishments and enduring sense of humor.

The family requests memorials be placed with the Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville, PA 15825. Condolences are being received by his daughter, Rebecca, at 102 Sarvey Lane, Brookville, PA 15825.
