Joseph married and raised his family in Johnson County, Indiana. Joseph was born in Ohio which I recently found was Adams County, Ohio. His Father was James Titus who was born in Pennsylvania and his Mother was Elizabeth Wolf who was born in 1785 in Armstrong County to John Jacob Wolf and Eva Christina King(KONIG). I have information on the WOLF, KING (KONIG), and HERTZEL surnames back to Germany - Switzerland area. - MAHNY, MANI, MANNY, MOHNEY posted by Clarence Shirey on Thursday, April 6, 2000
- The order of children listed in my 21 June Query for Adam MANY, SR. of Redbank Twp., Armstrong County, are not necessarily the order the children were born. It appears the MANY / MOHNEY children were born as follows.
(probably to the first wife)
1. Magdalena {age est. from stone
2. Anna "Catharine" {date off gravestone
3. John { date from Baptism
4. Peter{ birth & baptism unlocated
(probably to the 2nd wife "Catharina" (HILGERT) since she was not born until circa 1764, per the ages of her brother's and sister's...and she is named 7th in her father's will, therefore has to be younger than Adam, Sr. was as she lived much longer than he did)
5. Anna "Christina" {corrected date from Baptism records should read: baptized 21 October...it was mistranslated! "8ber" is Latin for October and not August. Therefore she was born in September!
6. John "Jacob" {date from baptism
7. Henry {only confirmation located
8. Elizabeth { date from baptism
9. Susanna { her bapt. unlocated & census records ages vary so order is ?? It seems odd her husband, Jacob MILLER, was appointed by Adam, Sr. as one of the Executors. One would think they'd be eldest of children, which was usually the case. He seemed to favor the younger, perhaps more educated and learned.
10. Abraham {twin from baptism
11. Isaac {twin from baptism
12. Adam { from baptism
Has anyone located the children's baptisms that we do not have? If so, kindly advise so they may be added.
Only eleven of the twelve survived as Deeds clearly state "1/11th" share of their father's estate. The children used different spellings when writing their surnames if one notes. Which one the 12 died and who survived? What happened to Elizabeth & Henry??
