HAINES/DEVORE John Haines was born in 1758 (place unknown). He was a farmer in Bedford County, PA and married Lanah DeVore. Their son, Henry Haines married Hannah Lybarger in 1803. About 1810 Henry and Hannah moved to Ohio. John and Lanah remained in Bedford County living in Londonderry Township, I believe. John Haines died in 1813 and is buried there. I am searching for information about John and Lanah's parents and grandparents. Would like to correspond with other descendants/researchers. I am interested in any information regarding Jacob TROXEL who was born 29 Oct. 1774 in Bedford Co., PA. He married Elizabeth FUNK born 19 Oct. 1779. They moved from McConnell's Cove, Bedford Co., PA to Osnaburg Twp., Stark Co., OH in 1810. Information from family history indicates that three brothers TROXEL came to PA from Switzerland and one of them was the Father of Jacob. I would also be interested in knowing what area of Bedford Co. McConnell's Cove was located as I have been unable to find it on any map. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A Henry SOUSLEY/SOUSBY lived in Bedford Co., PA at the same time as Lawrence and testified in KY for Lawrence's pension application. Is there any relationship here? Lawrence moved to Jefferson Co, KY on 23 October 1793, then moved to Bullitt Co., Ky, where he died sometime after 1850. Chester Arthur McDaniel (born 1883) is believed to have resided in Everett around 1906. He moved to Alexandria, PA (time unknown) and died there in 1940. Re: BEDFORD County, Lewis & Matilda BELTZ & Effie Viola HIRSCH: I am trying to link my Grandmother, Effie Viola Hirsch, with a family named Beltz, who raised her on their farm near Buffalo Mills, Harrison Twp.,Bedford County. Effie Viola Hirsch was born in 1877, in Somerset County; her mother, Matilda Martha Sarver, who married Simon Peter Hirsch, died in 1880, and Effie was then raised by the Beltz's. The Beltz's are buried at Trinity Reformed Church, Dry Ridge Cemetery, which I believe to be in Juniata Twp. Effie was married March 2, 1905, to Arthur Griffin LONG, in Manns Choice, and they then lived in Bard.

I am trying to find verification of the American Revolutionary War service of Samuel Diehl. Here is an excerpt from the Diehl Genealogy, "Samuel Diehl born about 1740 verified by a tax list for 176l showing Samuel Teal (Diehl) first taxable in that year indicating he was then 21 years of age.In 1784 Samuel and Margaretha (Ritchey) purchased a homestead in Friends Cove, Bedford County, Pa. but the establishment of the residence was not until 1785. They also applied for and received patents for land in Coleraine Township, Bedford County, Pa." This was complied and completed in 1959 and not published until 1976.
