Seeking information on the SLOAN family in Fayette Co., PA and Garrett Co., MD. According to Ellis' Fayette County History my 3rd g-grandfather John SLOAN's family arrived in Henry Clay Twp., Fayette County, PA about 1787 from Ireland. After selling his farm at Sloan's Ford on the Youghiogheny River, he moved with his family to MD, where he died. Several of his children returned to PA. The 1850 census lists my 2nd g-grandparents in Henry Clay Twp: John SLOAN, b. 1815 PA; his wife Sarah [WHETSTONE], b. 1820 MD, and their children: Hiram [b. 14 Sep 1840 PA]; Margaret A. [b. 1842]; Alfred, my g-grandfather [b. 2 Sep 1844 in Somerfield, Somerset Co., PA] married Martha FINLEY [b. 1850 Westmoreland Co., PA] on 31 May 1866 in West Newton, Westmoreland Co., PA; Catharine [b. 1844 PA]; Mary [b. 1847 PA]; and Reuben [b. 1850 PA]. My 2nd g-grandparents married on 20 Dec 1839 in Washington Co., MD. Alfred and Hiram SLOAN enlisted in the 85th Regiment, Company "H" in the Civil War from Bedford Co. When did John SLOAN sell his land and exactly where did he move to in MD? Is he the John SLOAN living near Grantsville MD in 1800? Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Henry SWARTZ born 1770 PA or NJ and died 1848 in Congress Twp, Wayne Co, OH. Henry married Anna Elizabeth or Elizabeth Anna RIBLET. Henry is listed on a tax list of Hopewell Twp, Bedford Co in 1796 near Elizabeth's brother Abraham RIBLET. In 1800, Henry and his wife Elizabeth are listed in an indenture concerning Elizabeth's father, Bartholomew RIBLET. Henry and Elizabeth moved to Wayne Co, OH in 1831. Henry and Elizabeth had 12 children. I only have names of two children--Robert and William. I would appreciate any information concerning this family.

I am looking for information on the HENDRICKS familiy specifically John or Andrew Hendricks. They lived in Somerset County in the town of Elk Lick between 1755-1813 and then later moved to Harrison County Ohio. Andrew the father was born cir. 1740 and died July 5, 1779 in I believe Somerset County. His wife's first name was Jane. John his son was born cir. 1766 and died in 1818 in Harrison County Ohio. Then on another descendency chart it has JACOB METZGER b: 03 mar 1781 Woodbury, Bedford Co, PA married to MARY PUTERBAUGH b:28 july 1783. Daughter of HENRY PUTERBAUGH & HANNAH ULRICH. I am researching Solomon WATERS and his wife Anna Pelton m. (1) _____Reed/Reid (2) Solomon Waters. She was born in PA in 1792. Solomon Waters appears in the 1830 census for Bedford Co. but PA. I don't believe they lived there long. Solomon's family was from Trumbull Co. Ohio. Anna died in 1836 perhaps in PA. Their son Oliver Waters was born in PA in 1833. The Waters family was originally from Connecticut. Solomon died in MI.

Looking for information on the family, ancestors, and orgins of Michael BECKLEY. Supposedly came to Lebanon Co. from Germany. His children were Henry d.1820 in Bedford Co., George b.6 Jun 1794 d.11 Apr 1875 in Bedford Co., Jacob, Betsy, Belle, and Polly. Henry and George came to Bedford Co and settled in St. Clair Twp. Henry built the first house in St. Clairsville. Henry was involved and fined during the Whiskey Rebellion. Family were builders of Conestoga wagons and horse buggys.

Robert then migrated down the Ohio River and was one of the 1st settlers of what is now Parkersburg, WV (Wood Co). Robert died in 1800. These families migrated from Lancaster county and trace back to Abraham STONER b. 1677-1706 d. 1741, his son John STONER b.1705- 1734 who married Elizabeth HERR. LONG, Samuel B., b. 29 Dec 1846 d. 9 Mar 1905 married to FISHER, Catherine E., b. 29 Apr 1848 d. 24 Nov 1890. Looking for parents and other ancestors of these two. Samuel and Catherine were married on 23 Feb 1871. According to his obituary, Samuel B. LONG spent his entire life living in Schellsburg, PA., Bedford Co. Samuel's second wife was Laura J. WILLIAMS. All three are buried at the cemetery at the Old Log Church just west of Schellsburg.

My gg Grandfather Michael DIBERT whose parents Michael DIBERT and Elizabeth WALLACK were born, raised and married in BEDFORD county Pa. married a woman named Mary SHERWOOD whose parents were Benjamin SHERWOOD (born around 1807 in NY)and Elizabeth MASH? who may have been born around 1824 in BEDFORD County PA. They arrived in Wood County OHIO around the same time that the DIBERTS did so I believe they might have known each other. I am looking for any native american blood in the MASH? or possibly SHERWOOD families. We know of native blood in the DIBERT family but my g grandmother daughter of Michael DIBERT and Mary SHERWOOD told of native blood more recent than the DIBERTs side of the family. any help would be greatly appreciated.
