About 1822 the Baptists organized a church at Mount Pleasant (now Utahville) named Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. As early as 1830 the community began use of the grounds adjacent to the church as a free public burial ground.
Charter of Incorporation of Utahville Cemetery Company - Sept. 17, 1886
Citizens held a meeting and selected cemetery committee to take action to preserve graveyard May 26, 1909.
