Laborde School, Chestnut Grove
Goffe School - Located two miles north of Grampian off of rt.219. We had both Alma Thomas & Mae Anna Korb as teachers. They would teach at Chestnut Grove school for two years then switch to Goffe for the next two. both of these schools were from 1st thru,6th grade in the 50s. Goffe had no running water we had to go to the Squires farm to get water. We used a wagon in spring & fall & a sled in the winter to carry two buckets at a time. We had a outhouse for the girls and one for the boys. [contributed by Robert Korb]
Greenville School - Two former teachers were Wilbur Bloom and Alma Thomas. The school had no lights or running water. We walked to Dick Thomas house for water each morning. In winter we would gather around the big ole furnace to keep warm and leave only for our classes. There were two outhouses out back one for boys and one for the girls. [contributed by Shirley Hatten]
