*NOTE for Samuel GELNETT Burial-- This is a small, apparently homemade metal marker that has been pounded in the ground and almost went unnoticed. However, Clearfield County, PA Courthouse records give Samuel’s date of death as November 6, 1905 in Pentz Run, of dropsy. In addition, his wife, Mary Ann (Ashenfelter) Gelnett died October 22, 1905 in Pentz Run, and is buried in the Rockton Cemetery, also according to Clearfield County, PA courthouse death records. However, her grave is apparently unmarked.
In the book "The Hills of Home" by Jennie Smith Dixon (1974), she claims that the Samuel Gelnett family was hard hit in 1879--1880 by a diptheria epidemic, and they were alleged to have lost seven or eight children, although it was not known if it was in the same epidemic. She claims there is a row of graves for the Gelnett children stricken by diptheria in the Rockton cemetery. (Pages 86-87.) They are apparently unmarked as well.
