KENNEDY, LAWSON, MEAGHER posted by Nancy Rudolph on Tuesday, December 7, 1999

Looking for information on parents, siblings and birth place of Fr. Michael Meagher who married by great grandparents, MARTIN LAWSON AND JOHANNA/ANNIE KENNEDY on October 21, 1889 at St. Leo R.C.
Johanna's mother's maiden name was MEAGHER so I am looking for a connection.
St. Leo's did not respond to a letter I sent last spring so I am appealing to a kind person in Ridgway to help me out with this. I found a reference to Fr. Meahger in a history of Elk, but it pertained to building of the church..

MEAGHER posted by Sandy on Tuesday, December 7, 1999

On June 25, 1999 "The Ridgway Record" reprinted in their paper a book written for Ridgway's Centennial. There are brief bios of long-time residents. According to this, Monsignor Meagher was born in Templedery County, Tipperary, Ireland. In 1869 he came to the US and entered St. Michael's Seminary in Pgh. He was ordained a priest in July 1972. His parishes were Tidioute, Corry, Ridgway and Emporium (united parishes). No relatives are mentioned.

MEYER posted by Sandra Raupfer on Thursday, December 30, 1999

I am searching for Johanna (John) Meyer and his wife, Priska who arrived in 1847 from Altdorf, Germany. His sons were Dionsys and Anton (Anthony), and Franz (Frank) Meyer. Anton was married to Kunegunda and Dionsys wife was Rosa. They appear in the Benzinger Township 1850 Census, numbers 196 and 197. I have traced my great-grandfather Dionsys to Whitley County, Indiana. I am interested in John and Anton's burial places and their descendants in this country. Any clue would be appreciated. They were Catholics in Germany and I assume continued to practice in the U.S.
