GARDNER HILL lies partially in Fox Township and partially in Jay Township. Oliver Gardner was the first settler here, coming from New York. The Hollobaugh family came here from Armstrong County, PA and set up housekeeping here. There is a small cemetery on Gardner Hill bearing the name of the Hollobaugh family. There is also another cemetery called the Gardner Hill Cemetery that is much bigger, and better kept. Today this area is farm and woodland, with a few dwellings. Wild grapes grow here, and they are always fun to find. Very bitter at first, but the more you eat, the better they taste!
