Biography
Sigel, formerly called Lumberville, then Hagerty was laid out by Judah P. Hagerty about 1850. A hotel built of round logs was run by the same JPH. A license dated 1857 showed continued ownership by Hagerty. He lived from 1810 to Many members of the Hagerty family and descendants are buried in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Judah Hagerty is my great grandfather, Jude Hagerty was the grandfather, and Howard E. Haggerty was my father. The second g was added to the name during service in WWI.
