- I am searching for information on Michael Maloney. He died in a mining accident in or near Rossiter, PA abt 9 May 1907. He is buried at St. Cosma's Roman Catholic Cemetery near Punxatawney in Jefferson County, PA. I would like to find out anything I can about Michael, his wife and parents. I also want information about the church and cemetery since I can't find the name anywhere. Maybe the name has been changed since 1907? I'd also like information on the possible mine at which he worked and died. This would help me refine my search. Michael's family received a "Resolution of Condolence" dated 14 May 1907 from Local Union 1736 in Rossiter, PA. The president of the union was Samuel Hunter and the Secretary was Charles France. Any information would be appreciated.

- BUTTERS, HOLDEN, WEISS posted by Brian Butters on Monday, March 22, 1999
- I have found my great grandfather on the 1920 Federal Census for Washington Twp, Jefferson Co., PA, and in the 1910 Federal Census for Clearfield Co., PA, but can find nothing prior to that. Prior to locating these entries, I had thought his children were all born in McKean Co (they did end up there by the 1930s) but all 9 children were born by the time the 1920 census was taken (and 4 had already been born by the time of the 1910 census).
My great grandfather's name was Franklin W. BUTTERS, b. Abt 1877, d. 1938; married about 1901 to Rachael (I believe her maiden name was WEISS/WISE), b. Abt 1881, d. 1962.
Possible that Frank's mother's maiden name was Mary HOLDEN. Family history says that Frank emigrated to the US from England with his parents when he was 12 and that his father died at sea during the journey. However, according to the 1920 census information, Frank and both of his parents were born in PA (according to the 1910 census, his father was born in NY). Any information or possible connections would be much appreciated.
