Sons Thomas and Charles were born in Lancaster Co before family moved to Randolph Co., WVa in 1790s. There is a John Sproul who appears with them in WVa (Mary's father or brother?).Any info on Scott or Sproul families in Lancaster Co appreciated. Thanks.

WHELCHEL. Dr. Francis Whelchel is believed to have landed in Philadelphia August 27, 1739, on the ship Snow Betsie, which sailed from Rotterdam & Deal (England). Ship lists show the name as "Frans Wellick" (list A), Frans Velhell (list B), and "Frantz Welchel" (list C). The signatures on Lists B and C were marked with an "X," probably indicating he did not write the name himself--although he is known to have been literate (served as MD in Rev. War). He is believed to have lived in Lancaster County before going to Albemarle County, VA (maybe while it was still a part of Goochland Co.). He owned land in VA in the mid 18th century and married Anne Stockton, daughter of Davis and Sarah Stockton, before migrating SC (the part that was formerly part of NC) and thence to GA. Am searching for information pertaining to his life in Lancaster County. Would be especially interested in knowing what records I might search in Norfolk, VA, so I can make efficient use of my time when and if I can make a trip to Lancaster County. BENTZ - I am looking for the parents of Samuel R. Bentz (30 Oct 1845-28 May 1886). He married Elizabeth Blantz (06 Sep 1844-14 Oct 1911), daughter of Benjamin and Magdalena on 15 Mar 1864 in Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brickerville, PA. He then served in the 3rd PA Heavy Artillery from 1864 to 1865. About 1872, he and his family migrated north to Cornwall Township, Lebanon County, PA. He and his wife had a total of 12 children together. They are buried together at Penryn Union Cemetery in Penn Township, Lancaster County, PA. Any help will be gratefully accepted. Thank you.

I am intrested in finding information on the offspring of Joshua Stevens b. 12/23/1790 and Margaret McBride of, I believe Adams County, PA. The family originally came from Vermont. I know Joshua and Margaret had seven children.I have run into a hurdle in tracing my mother's family. Her father, Victor Ross Stevens was born c. July 20, 1876 in Lancaster Co. (I think), but I believe his father was one of the children of the above-mentioned Joshua and Margaret Stevens. Victor's parents died in an accident when he was young and he was then raised by an aunt and uncle by the name of rothman. Unfortunately, my mother died when I was young, and so I can't get any information there either. Would greatly appreciate ANY help. Thank you.

Beiler - My wife's grandmother was a BYLER and I can trace her line back to Jacob BEILER who immigrated around 1737. Her grandfather was a BEILER and I think he also goes back to Jacob but I lose the line ( I think in Lancaster) with a David Beiler who married Elizabeth ? and whose son Samuel (1825-1893) married Jemima Hertzler.
