- HOKE posted by Michele Anzalone on Friday, April 30, 1999
- I am looking for information on Martin HOKE of Lancaster County. According to a 1867 edition of the History of Columbiana County Ohio...Martin filed a section in Columbiana County in 1804, he returned to Lancaster County intending on returning to Ohio in the spring with his family. He contracted Pneumoniia and died in late 1804 or early 1805 and is buried in Lancaster. His wife and three young children moved to Ohio and homesteaded. His wife is always referred to as the Widow Hoke and their children were John, Henry and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born in 1804. I would love to know anything about Martin, particularly who his parents and wife were. His wife must have been something to homestead successfully 640 acres with three small children! Thanks
