- ALGEO, LEFEVRE posted by Leo Dolan on Tuesday, August 31, 1999
- Thomas ALGEO arrived in New Castle, DE in 1793 reportedlyfrom Ireland, made his way to Lancaster County where he married Lydia LEFEVRE b 10JUL1770 in Leaman's Place. Her father was Samuel LeFevre and mother was Lydia Firre. Lydia ALGEO died February 1829 in Philadelphia and burial place was listed as "Cathedral" although the Catholic Cathedral cemetery was not yet in existence. Thomas Algeo died in the 1830s apparently also in Philadelphia. Their heir was Zechariah Bryun Decker. (This could have been an executor) Interested in finding Thomas ALGEO's birthplace in Ireland or possible Scotland, and where he and Lydia are buried. My wife's father, and grandfather were both named Preston LeFevre ALGEO although to our knowledge there were no offspring from Thomas and Lydia, Thomas could have had a brother or cousin who named their child after him. I have read the history of the Lefevre family of Lancaster County (Strassburg) but there is very little other than a marriage ref. for Lydia to Thomas.

- CHAPEL, GROFF, NESSLY posted by Laura Lea Sims on Tuesday, August 31, 1999
- NESSLY/GROFF I am looking for any information on either Jacob NESSLY or Elizabeth GROFF. All the information I have on them is when they moved to Brooke (Hancock Co.) VA (WV). The information I have obtained points to them moving to that area from Lancaster Co around 1785. I believe they were born in Lancaster Co, married there, and possibly had seven of their nine children there before moving. My birth years on these two are not for certain but possibilities: Jacob NESSLY born about 1751 (marrying Elizabeth GROFF around 1772) and he died on 3 November 1832 in Port Homer, Ohio. Elizabeth GROFF was born about 1755 and died on 6 August 1829. Jacob NESSLY built a chapel Hancock Co., WV. It is called the NESSLY CHAPEL. I don't know if this information will help anyone and help me in the process.
- STAUFFER, WITWER, ZIMMERMAN posted by Drew Snyder on Tuesday, August 31, 1999
- STAUFFER,Jacob, b. 1740 married Elizabeth WITWER. It seems pretty clear to me that Jacob is my 5th great grandfather, but I am finding conflicting information as to his parents. One source lists a Christian Stauffer, wife unknown, and another source lists a Mathias Stauffer, wife Anna ZIMMERMAN. The dates given for the birth of Anna and several of her children seem at odds also. Anybody able to clear this up for me? Please email me with reply, Thanks!
