MRS. ELIZABETH PURDY.
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Purdy, 37, widow of S.A. Purdy, died at her home,
1323 Butler Street, Saturday afternoon, after an illness of five
years. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Methodist Espiscopal
Church. Her husband died 20 years ago. Eighteen years ago Mrs. Purdy
moved from Carbondale to Easton. Previous to that time Mr. and Mrs.
Purdy lived in Purdytown, a town in Wayne county which was named in
honor of Mr. Purdy.
Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Andrews, of
Wilson; Miss Leonora Purdy, at home; two sons, Martin K. Purdy, of
Bainbridge, N.Y.; Stanley a Purdy, of Arlington, N.J.; a sister, Mrs.
Ida Edinger, of Easton; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

STRUNK RITES
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Stru;nk, who died Friday at the home
of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Taylor, of 872
Scott street, Stroudsburg, were held yesterday afternoon at the
Dunkelberger and Westbrook funeral home, Stroudsburg.
The Rev. Ernest T. Campbell, pastor of Stroudsburg Presbyterian
Church, officiated. Interment was in Stroudsburg cemetery. Pallbearers
were Wilson B. Lee, Stewart White, Theodore S. Metzgar and Herbert
Pooley.

MISS LUCY A. VIVIAN
Miss Lucy Ann Vivian, 79, of 322 Coal street, who died yesterday
afternoon in Easton Hospital, was a lifelong resident of Easton. She
was admitted to the hospital on Sunday.
Miss Vivian was born on September 23, 1871, a daughter of the late
John F. and Mary Taylor Vivian. She was a member of Second Methodist
Church. Her only relatives are nieces and nephews.

RITES FOR MRS. STEM
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Roling Stem, 83, of 904 Lehigh
street, were held this afternoon in the Shillinger funeral home. Mrs.
Stem, Widow of Edward Stem, died in Paterson, N.J.
The rev. Carl R. Hammerly, pastor of First Methodist Church,
officiated. Interment was in Easton Heights cemetery. Relatives served
as pallbearers.

Salinda Hausman
Selinda Hausman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Hausman,
passed away Friday morning at 6:40 o'clock at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Benjamin George, 1115 Main Street, Slatington, after a lengthy
illness, of plurisy. She was 73 years, 5 months, and 3 days old.
Besides her granddaughter, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John
Blose, Allentown and Mrs. Benjamin George, Slatington.

Lewis K. Weiss
Lewis K. Weiss, age 71 years, died at Scranton on January 30. He
was a son of the late Reuben and Susan Weiss, of Delaware Water Gap.
Mr. Weiss is survived by one son, Chester, of Denver, Col., and by two
sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Purdy of Easton, and Mrs. Henry H. Edinger of
Delaware Water Gap.

Miss Ida Worman
Miss Ida Worman, aged 72 years, of Riegelsville, died at 9 o'clock
this morning at her home, of apoplexy. She was stricken on Wednesday
last and was found in an unconscious condition at noon on that day, by
her niece, Miss Carolyn Worman. Miss Worman remained unconscious up to
the time of her death.
Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Worman and
was a member of one of the oldest families in Riegelsville. Her father
established one of the first stores in Riegelsville and Miss Worman
was one of the clerks. She was a member of St. John's Reformed church,
Riegelsville.
Two brothers survive her, Edgar M. and Charles Worman, both of
Riegelsville. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 10 at 2:30
p.m., with all services at the house. Interment in Riegelsville
cemetery.

Frank M.C. Strunk
Frank M.C.Strunk, one of the best known residents of Monroe county,
died at his home, back of Arlington Heights, Stroudsburg, Wednesday
morning. Deceased was 58 years of age on the 21st of May. Cancer of
the stomach was the cause of his death.
With his wife, the late M.C. Strunk first lived at Pen Argyl, after
they moved to Swiftwater.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and son, Russell, of Binghamton,
N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. George Barkman and Mrs. Walter Oyer,
living at the farm at Arlington Heights, and Mrs. Arthur Taylor, of
Stroudsburg; three brothers, William and James of Portland, and John
Strunk, of Hartford, Conn. and four sisters.

AGED PORTLAND WOMAN DIES OF INJURIES
Mrs. Arminda Jane Strunk, 78 years old, of Portland, died
late yesterday afternoon in the Portland Hospital from injuries
sustained on the night of May 24, when she was struck by the
automobile of Isador Kaban, of Scranton. Mrs. Strunk was standing
aside of the road talking to a neighbor and tried to cross to get to
her home in front of the approaching auto. Kaban swerved and jammed on
his brakes in an erfort to avoid hitting the woman, but was
unsuccessful. He was released on his own recognizance after Corporal
Tapp of the State Highway patrol conducted an investigation of the
accident.
Mrs. Strunk who was the widow of David I. Strunk, was a life-long
resident of Portland and vicinity. She is survived by the following
children; Mrs. Sadie Barker, Newark, Miss Mary E. Strunk, Bloomfield,
N.J., Arthur Strunk, of Stroudsburg, Mrs. J.E. Weirich, of Cape Hills,
Pa., Mrs. John I Lewis and Philip Strunk, of Portland; also by 10
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and the following brothers and
sister; Mrs. Sallie Poff Lansinger, of Philadelphia, Philip and George
Sigafoos, of Slateford.
Funderal services will be held on Friday at 2 pm, daylight saving
time, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John L. Lewis, of Portland,
with further services in the Portland Baptist church in charge of the
pastor, Rev. Joseph Breen and interment will be made in Riverview
cemetery, Portland.
