- VALETTA, ZENGERLE posted by Julia Grimes Chary on Sunday, October 19, 2003
- This is mainly a reply. In response to jvale@peoplepc.com, Mary VALETTA was married to my great-grandmother's brother, John ZENGERLE. They are buried in the St. Germain's cemetery in Germania, PA. Her dates are given by the Potter County Historical Society (paintedhills.org/POTTER as 1859-1945; his, as 1855-1918. Other than that, I know nothing, as I am researching my great grandmother Maria Zengerle Breunig, who was born in Rohan, France in 1841 and am finding little. If anyone has any information about her parents John and Catherine Zengerle, residents of Germania in the late 1800's, please let me know. Also, in regard to Linda Blum-Barton's query about the Grimes-Tenbus family, apparently this is the family of my grandfather Grimes's brother John Grimes, formerly of Galeton. John Grimes married Susanna Tenbus in Honesdale, and then moved to Galeton with her and his twin brother Matthew's family to engage in lumbering and the railroad. A descendant, Bernard Grimes, resides in Lombard, IL now. Please contact me if you wish to learn more about him. He has a son and daughter, otherwise that side of the John Grimes family has died out.
