- GORDON posted by Joel Gordon on Monday, August 2, 1999
- I am looking for the ancestors of Peter Gordon, who I believe was born in Westmoreland County. He first appears in the 1810 Indiana County Census living only with one older male. I have not been able to determine who this older male is, but I think it might be his father. Peter moved to Brooke County, (West) Virginia (the part which later became Hancock Co) between 1820 and 1830. He is listed there, age 64, with a wife Eleanor, age 69, and a family of Kelleys (Husband William and Wife Mary, who is perhaps Peter's daughter). This means he would have been born around 1785. One possible candidate for Peter's father are Patrick Gordon, who lived in Westmoreland County. Right now I have hit a brick wall and would appreciate any leads (even those which eliminate people). Thanks for your time. Joel Amos Gordon.

I was born and grew up in Schuylkill County, where my mother moved in the 1920's. (Before coming to Schuylkill County, the family returned to Italy and then re-immigrated.) Are there any resources that describe Bradenville as it existed in 1911. What was the ethnic make-up in 1911? Was there an Italian community there then or today? My grandfather was a coal miner. Was that a primary industry in 1911? What coal companies were in operation then? Or was there another industry that he would have worked in? Does anyone have any old photos circa 1911 that they could share or point me to on the Web? All information concerning this town would be appreciated as it relates to the 1910's. Thanks for listening.

- I am searching for information on William Barbour/Barber who lived in Westmoreland County. He was born in Ireland in l790 and came to America in 1807. His daughter Elizabeth was born in 1822 and married William McChesney. The l850 cnesus of Westmoreland County, Derry Township, shows William Barbour/Barber living with the McChesneys. I do not know his parents names. Do you know the names of the children of John Barber?.
