1934-1935 Boys Basketball Team

Entered in Section XIX of the W.P.I.A.L. the boys' team started out in our fifth season of basketball. Under their capable and never-tiring coach. Swartzx, and facing what seemed unsurmountable difficulties, the team has accomplished something of which we may be justly proud.
In the first game, after quite a struggle, Youngwood defeated us 14-12. We were no match for the strong West Newton quintet and suffered a defeat of 39-11. Next Perryopolis knocked us off our feet that our coach was ill, little training was done for the Sewickley game and as a result, we lost. In a rough and exciting encounter, rostraver won by a 19-13 margin.
In our second game with Youngwood we were defeated, 20-16. West Newton again completely upset us with a 52-10 score. Perryopolis worked hard for their second victory of 19-26. It was a determined and hard-fighting team that defeated Sewickley, 14-12, on their own floor. Rostraver was victorious a second time and defeated us, 22-20. In an exhibition game we lost to East Huntingdon 25-11. In anothre game we beath them 22-20.
The second day of March found us at the Westmoreland county tournament at Greensburg. We defeated Bell township by a 35-28 score and entered the semi-finals on Thursday the following week. The strong, driving, Mt. Pleasant team were our opponenets and we were defeated by a 31-14 score. This game marked the end of a comparatively favorable season. Our victories were few but all the value and success of the season cannot be measured by the scores.
